Professional Biography |
I received my B.A. in elementary education from Calvin College and my M.Ed. in K-12 Library/Media Services from Grand Valley State University. Before coming to South Christian, I was a third grade teacher as well as a P-8 Media Specialist. After teaching in an elementary classroom for a few years, I chose to pursue my master’s in library/media services because I never saw myself being a lifelong classroom teacher but wanted a role where I could still be interacting with students and impacting their lives in an educational setting. Being a media specialist provides me with that opportunity as I help students find a great book to read or a valuable resource to help them in their research.
Personal Biography |
I enjoy assisting South’s cross country and track teams, watching and/or participating in sports, reading, crafts, and traveling.
Faith |
I chose to teach in a Christian school because I want to share the joy of God’s salvation with my students. I can’t imagine teaching students during the excitement of Christmas and joy of Easter without sharing the real reason for the celebration—God’s gift, His Son. As I teach and interact with students and colleagues I strive to live out Colossians 3:23-24. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
