Professional Biography

I graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1995 and earned my B.A. in Mathematics from Calvin College in 1999. I am currently working towards my Master’s in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Western Michigan University. I spent the first ten years of my teaching career at Grand Rapids Christian High School where I taught a wide variety of math courses. I also coached football and boys tennis at GRCHS. I teach Algebra and Functions, Statistics and Trigonometry, and coach football.

Personal Biography

I am blessed with a darling daughter (Claira – 3 years old) and a beautiful wife (Cindy). I enjoy spending time with my family (playing games like hide and seek, going on adventure hikes, etc.). I enjoy playing a variety of recreational sports and spending time outdoors. Our family attends Thornapple Evangelical Covenant Church where we have been a part of a small group family for the last 7 years.

Faith

I have now had the privilege of teaching in a Christian High School for a number of years. Every year I have the opportunity to work with a new group of students who exhibit a variety of unique God-given talents and gifts. It is my job not only to help them learn mathematics, but also to motivate, challenge, and encourage them to find their unique voice – to help them discern God’s call on their lives. Through classroom conversations, daily devotions, worship services, and countless teachable moments in the classroom, hallways, and on the football field, my faith is encouraged and strengthened as I see young people grow and become equipped servants willing and able to do God’s work in our world.
