Faith

I went into teaching after years of thinking about law school and a short stint in a PH.D. program at the University of Virginia. It hit me one day in graduate school: “I don’t like this; I don’t have a passion for this.” What I do have a passion for is history, politics and sports. I realized, perhaps you could say I was being led, that a career in teaching could combine these 2 passions. In addition, teaching in a Christian school would enable me to fit both of these passions into a worldview of Christian service. Clearly to me, this is something God-led. It also means to me that I have to try and transfer some of this passion to our kids at South. I believe the greatest challenge for me is to instill the thought in young minds that God calls us to not only live good lives, but to be His agents in the community and to use Christian discernment to help build His kingdom on earth. Each day I have to find ways to confront kids with that challenge.
