Professional Biography |
I am a teacher by profession, but a learner at heart. The learning opportunities that I have received have fostered a positive experience that I take with me to each class. In furthering my educational pursuits, I have received a BA from Calvin College with a focus on English education and a minor in Communications and Theater. I have since continued my education by receiving a M.Ed. in Reading from Western Michigan University. As a teacher, I have taught the eighth grade in inner city Lansing before coming to teach at South Christian, where I have been working for the past six years.
Personal Biography |
My family consists of my wife, Emily, of six years, and two children: Elijah and Maraleisa.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am employed at Grand Rapids Community College as an adjunct professor, I am the dramatic director at my church, Discovery CRC, I direct the fall play at South Christian, and I am active in pursuing my writing career, where I am currently finishing a children’s book. My hobbies include spending time with my family, audio/video editing, reading Shakespearean plays, and attending the theater.
Faith |
The whole world and all who are in it belong to God. We, as ambassadors for Christ, have received a mandate to share our story. I believe that God has provided me with the opportunity to train and teach students to discover, understand, write, and articulate their stories. I am so thankful that I have the privilege of teaching in a school that encourages and fosters a Christian experience for children to grow, learn, and build a strong relationship with their Heavenly Father.
