Tara Schreur

Biography

I graduated from Hope College in 2000 with a major in Physical Education and minor in Biology. I have taken Master’s courses at Western Michigan University in Sports Studies. I am currently taking classes at Calvin College to achieve my Health Endorsement. I taught Physical Education for 11 years. This year, I am teaching 10th grade Biology. I entered the teaching field because I love working and relating to kids. My teachers were so influential in my life and I wanted to pass that on. I am married to Andrew Schreur (’95 alum) and we are blessed with three children (Colton, Ava and Meg). They attend Byron Center Christian. Before coming to SCHS, I taught at Zeeland Public High School for 6 years. In addition to teaching, I also enjoy coaching Girls Varsity Softball. My hobbies include hanging out with my family and friends, reading, traveling and exercising.

Faith Statement

What a wonderful experience to be teaching Biology while integrating my faith! Studying Biology and showing the students who had a hand in all of the details is such a reward. We serve a sovereign and awesome God! I am a product of South Christian and a 1996 graduate. I believe in our mission here at South and am committed to passing on the legacy. I was impacted by the faith and example of my teachers here. My hope is to mentor my students not only in Biology, but also in their walk in faith.
