Biography

I completed a Spanish major from La ULACIT in San José, Costa Rica and then received a B.A. in Spanish, English, and Bilingual Education from Calvin College. Shortly after Calvin, I received an M.A. in International Development with a focus on Education for Women and Girls from Eastern University in Philadelphia. I have had the opportunity to teach in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Indonesia, and various Spanish-English bilingual schools within the United States. My husband, Ebuka, and I have three girls — Ifunanya, Kosiso, and Chimamanda. As a family we enjoy traveling–most especially to my husband’s home country of Nigeria–hiking, kayaking, reading, trying new foods, and learning languages.

Faith Statement

What an awesome God we serve! He has created this beautifully diverse world that we are given the opportunity to live in to give glory to God. In Acts 17: 26-27, Paul tells us, “And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward Him and find Him. Yet He is actually not far from each one of us.” How cool is it that in this diverse world, God remembers, knows, and lives with each of us? My favorite part of teaching is getting to know the students individually and their stories through which God has shaped each and every one of them.
