Anna VanElderen

Biography

I graduated from Calvin University with a degree in secondary education integrated science and a minor in biology. While at Calvin, I did my semester of student teaching at South Christian in the fall of 2024, teaching physical science and chemistry.

When I’m not at school, I love hanging out with my friends and being outside in nature. I also love to travel! I have recently discovered the joy of sudoku and crossword puzzles. I am a huge nerd when it comes to Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, 70s/80s rock music and of course, science. When it comes to caffeine, I just love an iced dirty chai latte or an iced caramel latte. I love being out in nature and seeing science first hand, and I can’t wait to show that to my students!

Faith Statement

I see God the most in His creation. In each sunrise and sunset, we can see how He is actively working in the world He created for us. I am fascinated by the intricacies of His designs. He created us in His own image, and we can see how much intentional detail was put into making us into His people. I believe God created us with brains that allow us to think for ourselves and to learn about the world that was created for us to inhabit. God calls us to care for His creation. One way I think we can answer that call is to educate ourselves and others about our world. I consider it a privilege to be in a position to teach students about the world our Creator God made for us, and can’t wait to dive into that more with my students!
