I graduated from Calvin College in 1991 with a Bachelors in Mathematics and a Minor in Biology. I earned my Masters in Education from Grand Valley State University in 2000. I taught in Salt Lake City, Utah for three years before returning to West Michigan to teach at South Christian High School for three years. After taking some time off to have children, I am happy to be back in the classroom! My husband Arden is a hydraulic engineer with the City of Grand Rapids. We have two great kids, Jillian and Isaac. I enjoy running, biking, spending time with my family, and playing European board games.
Our family has been through many difficult days since our son was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1. Even breathing is a challenge for him and throughout the years we have watched him lose the ability to do even the simplest things. It is because of our faith in Christ that we can face each day with HOPE. We know that someday Isaac will be made whole again in heaven.
