I spent my high school years at a public school in Anchorage, Alaska, and then went to college at Biola University where I received a BA in Biblical Studies. My wife, Erin, and I married in 2005 and have two children who attend Byron Center Christian School. Before kids, we did high school youth ministry together for ten years and I attended Wheaton College where I received an MA in Historical and Systematic Theology and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology. Our family loves to travel, camp, do life together, and cheer on the Chicago Bears.

Faith Statement
I was called out of darkness and into the light in 8th grade, when Jesus began changing my life. Since then, he has been teaching me what it means to follow him, and I have found deep joy in helping students begin and grow in a relationship with him. I love teaching the Bible, theology, and Christian worldview because God’s truth in his Word not only shapes our minds but also transforms our hearts. We must pray for changed hearts and learn to love him above all else.
My own faith has been shaped both by life in the church and by my studies. I earned degrees in theology and biblical studies because I wanted to understand God’s Word more deeply, and through that journey, God has used my education to strengthen my trust in him and my desire to serve others. I count it a privilege to walk alongside students—and to partner with parents—in helping them discover the goodness of God and the hope of the gospel.
