Biography

I grew up in a home where both my parents were teachers. I was inspired by them both and after I graduated from SCHS (‘04), I attended Calvin College where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, with a Major in English. I worked in an intervention classroom in the Caledonia School District for 8 years. Working at South Christian has been an absolute joy and an answer to prayers. My husband Abe and I have been married since 2009, and we have three daughters, Addison, Gemma, and Vivian. They all attend Dutton Christian Schools. As a family we love being outside together, camping, swimming, and hiking. I love to read, and will happily add any book recommendations to my ever-growing list.

Faith Statement

“So the body is not made up of just one part. It has many parts. Suppose the foot says, “I am not a hand. So I do not belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body…But in fact, God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12: 14-18.

It is a true blessing to be able to connect with SCHS students and be a small part of their journey as they learn and grow stronger in their knowledge of God’s plan for them. I believe each student has been given spiritual gifts and talents that we desperately need in the body of Christ here at SCHS. I enjoy being a part of a community that helps students learn and grow in their potential in the body of Christ.
