As a graduate of Trinity Christian College with degrees in Elementary Education and Vocal Music Ed, I have always had a love for Christian education and children.  My husband, Kevin and I are the proud parents of five fantastic kids. Four have graduated from SCHS and the last one is currently a student here. Since 2004, I have owned and run Floral Elegance which specializes in custom floral creations from weddings to funerals.

Running a business and having a large family has given me many opportunities to plan and facilitate events that involve large groups of people, creating a natural transition for me as an Event Coordinator at SCHS.

Although my current role is that of Registrar, for as long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher, and for 34 years I had the privilege of living that dream in the South Christian English Department. I graduated from Calvin College in 1991 with my B.A.; I received my M.A.T. from Calvin in 1998. I married Scott Wierenga in 1990; our kids are all married and “adulting” quite successfully, and we are thoroughly enjoying our grandchildren. Our daughter and her family are here in town, and our son and his family also recently moved to Grand Rapids.  Our Hong Kong son, who started as an international student at SC as a junior and has hung around ever since, and his family live in New Jersey.   In our empty nester life, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our grandkids, traveling, camping, reading, and hanging out at our place in Saugatuck. Little known facts: my worst job ever was salting deer hides during my parents’ deer processing business in the fall, which paid for our Christian school tuition; I minored in Latin and am certified to teach it (although it’s been 30+ years since I’ve read any); I collect nutcrackers, and I have way more of them than anyone should have; my favorite book of all times is To Kill a Mockingbird; my favorite movie of all times is The Sound of Music.

I graduated from Calvin College in 2006 with a BA in K-12 Physical Education and a minor in Psychology Education. For the last 15 years, I have been a PE teacher and varsity soccer coach at Lansing Christian School in Lansing, MI. I recently earned my Master’s Degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University: Irvine. Athletics have always been a huge passion of mine as I believe they build strong Christian character and teach us to persevere when things get tough. My mother taught at South Christian for over 20 years before her retirement, and my dad was a professor at Calvin College before he passed away. I have two brothers and four amazing nephews and nieces. I enjoy watching soccer, playing golf, and fishing with my brothers.

I knew I wanted to be an orchestra teacher since 7th grade, because of the influence of my alma master’s incredible orchestra director. Though I was brought up in the public schools, through God’s hand I found my way to Christian education, and I began the orchestra program at Byron Center Christian School in 2019. I have been privileged to also serve SCHS and Dutton Christian School since 2021. When not in the classroom, I’m a freelance violinist and violist, performing and helping administratively with Hark Up Music, playing wedding ceremonies and church services, performing in pit orchestras in the community theatre scene, and fiddling in my new Irish band called Firish. Outside of orchestral things, I can also be found serving backstage in the theatre, hiking or kayaking, practicing the accordion, and spending time with my equally musical husband Geoffrey Hansen.

I graduated from Cornerstone University and Kuyper College in 2013 with a double major, Mathematics from Cornerstone and Bible & Theology from Kuyper. After graduation, I took a position at The Potter’s House High School where I taught math for four years. I then got married to my husband, Desmond, and moved to northwest Indiana where I taught math at a public high school alongside coaching varsity girls tennis for two years. I am overjoyed to now be back in my hometown of Middleville and teaching at SCHS. My husband and I attend First Baptist Church in Middleville. We have two daughters, and of course I can’t leave out our attention-loving dog, Gus.

Though I grew up and went to high school in Seattle, Washington, I’ve always had my fair share of Michigan roots. They drew me back for four years of study in Calvin University’s Education program, and to a wonderful Dutch boy from Hudsonville. My husband and I now live in Wyoming with our cat.  I’ve worked and volunteered with students over the better part of my life, experiencing classrooms with students aged four months to 18 years. When I’m at home I love to bake and quilt and try out new crafts. However, when it comes to history I’ve always enjoyed learning more about the world and its story. I believe that the study of history teaches vital critical thinking and reasoning skills. Moreover, it puts students in the shoes of millions of others, offering constant growth opportunities.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in Physical Education and a minor in English. I received my master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State. After I graduated from WMU, I spent three years at Western as an assistant basketball coach. I worked at Jenison High School and then Holland Christian High School, where I coached, taught and worked as the assistant athletic director. I am thrilled to be serving at my alma mater as the athletic director where I can use my passion for athletics to impact the student-athletes, coaches, and community of South Christian. My wife Olivia and I have three kids, Mackezny, Carter, and Drew.

I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, and attended Grand Rapids Christian High School. From there, I went on to Calvin College, where I earned a degree in Business and Communications. My husband, Troy, and I have three kiddos—Ryan, Austin, and Lexi—and of course, our dog, Scout! We love spending our summers golfing and camping. We also attend Cornerstone Church.

We are blessed to be part of the South Christian High School community, raising our kids as proud Sailors. I’ve had the joy of working at SCHS since the spring of 2020 and transitioned into the role of administrative assistant in 2023. I truly enjoy getting to know both the students and their families.

After working many years as a Church Administrative Assistant I decided I could retire. After 6 months I was bored and was very happy to join the wonderful administrative staff at South Christian High School. My husband Rich and I are both graduates of SC as well as our 4 children and their spouses. We had 2 grandsons graduate in the last couple of years and soon 2 more will make their way here. As a family we love to camp, play games of any kind, and just hang out together.
